The University of Maryland's Robert H. Smith School of Business is pleased to present the 2008 China Business Plan Competition - Go for the Gold! now in its fourth successful year. Entrepreneurs from around the world will compete for cash prizes totaling US$50,000 - including a US$25,000 grand prize and US$15,000 second prize. Competition organizers include the Smith School's Dingman Center for Entrepreneurship - a leading national center for entrepreneurship programs.
NEW! 2008 Young China Entrepreneur Awards!
This year and for the first time Smith will offer a special category of prizes to students from Chinese universities. Students will Go for the Gold! to win individual prizes of US$1,000 totaling up to US$10,000!
This vibrant event honors the Smith School's deeply held commitment to sharing its excellence in entrepreneurship programs and research within China. A vital piece of the competition includes Smith-delivered entrepreneurship workshops and courses to help emerging entrepreneurs build knowledge, skills and confidence. May 14, 2008 launch. Entries for the 2008 China Business Plan Competition will be accepted online until July 1, 2008. Entries for the 2008 Young China Entrepreneur Awards will be accepted online until September 15, 2008. Entries for both contests will consist of a two-page business summary. Individuals may only enter one competition and cannot compete in both simultaneously.
Summer 2008 semi-finalist announcement. Semi-finalists in the 2008 China Business Plan Competition will be asked to develop a 15-25 page business plan, which will be accepted until September 15, 2008. Entries to the 2008 Young China Entrepreneur Awards will not require development of a full business plan.

September 2008 final round notification to five finalist teams and selected individual finalists for the 2008 Young China Entrepreneur Awards.

October 29, 2008 final round competition and awards ceremony. Selected finalist teams will each make a presentation as well as participate in a feedback session with the judges. The final round for the 2008 Young China Entrepreneur Awards will consist of a 5-minute elevator pitch that will take place during a separate session. The judges for the final round will include representatives of leading international venture capital firms and successful entrepreneurs. Winners for both categories of the competition will be announced during the awards ceremony.
